WJW Walley Pottery matte green brown flambe glaze 9" chamberstick

$895.00

William J Walley Pottery worm handled chamber stick. Glazed in a semi matte, brown and green flambe glaze. Die-stamped WJW. It measures 9 inches tall and 4 3/8 inches in diameter at the base. It is in good condition with only a small old repair to the edge of the foot and no other chips, cracks, or firing flaws. Walley used a wide variety of glazes, more than the Grueby or Merrimac Potteries to whom his work is often compared. The pottery was located in West Sterling Massachusetts where he began in 1898, making everything by hand. He died in 1919.A unusual piece of New England Arts & Crafts era art pottery.
