Merrimac Pottery 3 prong handle vase

Merrimac Pottery spherical vase with three prong or horn shaped handles. Glazed in their signature semi matte, curdled and feathered green glaze. Unmarked however paper labels with the sturgeon mark were used for the first half of production. It measures about 4 3/4 inches tall and about 6 1/2 inches in diameter. it is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or firing flaws or repairs, just an in the making glazed over clay dent at the rim. Merrimac used a wide variety of glazes, as many as the Grueby or Walley Potteries to whom the work is often compared. The pottery was located in Newburyport Massachusetts and only made art pottery from 1900 to 1908. A beautiful piece of New England Arts & Crafts era art pottery.
