Merrimac Pottery flower decorated vase
Merrimac Pottery flower decorated vase
Merrimac Pottery rare vase with tooled flowers and stems covered in their signature matte green feathered glaze over red clay similar to that popularized by Grueby, Merrimac, Hampshire, Owens, Rookwood, and many others. Made in Newburyport Massachusetts around 1900. It measures about 4 3/8 inches tall and 4 inches in diameter at the widest. It is in excellent condition with only 2 tiny nicks filled in and no big chips, cracks, firing flaws, or repairs. Marked only with decorator initials E.Q. and the number 1893 (not a date) typical of their decorated work and no surgeon fish mark. A beautiful piece of hard to find New England Arts & Crafts matte green art pottery.
