Marblehead Pottery rare decorated vase
Marblehead Pottery rare decorated vase
Marblehead Pottery decorated canted form vase with an incised floral sprout design in dark brown against a speckled matte green ground. An iconic design included in the landmark Princeton Arts & Crafts exhibit, 1972. The interior is a glossy amber clear showing the clay. It measures about 3 3/4 inches tall and 4 1/8 inches in diameter at the widest. It is in great condition with no chips, cracks, firing flaws or repairs. Marked with the firm's die-stamped MP and ship mark and HT for designer Arthur Hennessey and decorator Sarah Tutt. The pottery was founded in Massachusetts by Dr Herbert Hall, run by Arthur Baggs, and dates to about 1915. An exceptional piece of New England Arts & Crafts art pottery.
